March 13, 2006

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart and William Smith sailing team powered past nine other teams to earn top-honors at the Team Race Invitational hosted by St. Mary’s (Md.) College this past weekend. HWS sported an 8-1 mark in the round robin format to edge out Georgetown University (7-2).

The Colleges also placed fourth in the 18-team field at the Admiral Moore regatta hosted by New York Maritime. First-years John Sampson (St. Georges School/Rumson, N.J.) and Sarah Borup (Toms River South/Pine Beach, N.J.) won the A Division, placing in the top six (out of 18) in all six races.

William Smith was 15th in the Women’s Intersectional at the U.S. Naval Academy.
